Les Ardoines Station
2026

Hicham Berrada

Vestiges futurs invites travelers in the station to embark on a journey—not through space, but through time and matter. The video installation immerses us underwater, before a bronze model of the station that slowly oxidizes through a process of electrolysis. The metal dissolves, like a gaseous mist drifting through water.

Over the course of a week-long cycle, the experience condenses centuries of transformation. Minutes stretch and warp, revealing another kind of temporality—the time of matter, the rhythms of geology. This chemical process becomes a visual meditation, where time flows fluidly along the traces of an ancient future.

“Time is the physical force over which we have the least control: we can usually alter our perception of it, yet it remains impossible to truly accelerate or slow it down.” — Hicham Berrada

HICHAM BERRADA
Born in 1986 in Casablanca, Morocco. Lives and works in Paris.
After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, École du Fresnoy in Tourcoing, and a residency at the Villa Médicis in Rome, Hicham Berrada, son of a biologist and a pharmacist and with a passion for science, has established himself as a "laboratory artist." His artistic work is dedicated to chemistry. Immersed in various baths of solutions, sometimes homemade, and subjected to different temperatures, materials degrade over varying periods, making the process of chemical alteration and its temporality the focus of his work.
