Urban Forest
Issy Cœur-de-Ville
This plan enabled the apartments to be provided with external extensions in the form of planted terraces. The park was treated as a micro-forest with terracing planted with ground-cover plants, shrubs, and trees with tall trunks, all chosen for their climatic adaptation and contribution to biodiversity, in collaboration with landscape architect Marc Littot.
This project is also characterised by its very wide-ranging functional, generational and social mix within the same buildings, combining social and privately-owned housing, shops, cinemas, a school, a day nursery, accommodation for the elderly, offices and a third place linked to digitisation.
Another aspect of the project was its density – 105,000 m² built on 3 hectares. This density favoured the presence of facilities, and with precise and skilful handling of the buildings’ morphology, opposing buildings and openings providing views, the associated constraints were overcome.
