Shenzhen World Expo
These halls, spanning a width of 500m, are arranged on either side of a 2-kilometres long pedestrianised street organised on two levels and covered by a large canopy. Public access to the halls is via a mezzanine that enables visitors to apprehend the exhibition as a whole. Below, the stands are organised on a surface free of any load-bearing point. The free height of 16 metres permits any configuration of stands. All the halls are linked with one another by covered footbridges and by the lower street, which is equipped with a restaurant space and external exhibition areas enabling 2, 4, 6 or 8 halls to be grouped together for a single exhibition.
Two entrance lobbies are preceded by a vast exterior Forecourt edged with pools and gardens and covered by an immense canopy. This last can accommodate a large crowd of visitors and is used for exhibition inaugural events. On the roofs of the entrance lobbies, a large tree-planted terrace overlooking the Centre provides a space for visitors to unwind, with areas for relaxing and enjoying refreshments. Around the pavilions, huge spaces dedicated to logistics enable exhibitions to be set up in an efficient manner, separated from the flow of visitors. To the south, two vast esplanades accommodate outdoor exhibitions.
By its size and its standard of facilities, the new Shenzhen Exhibition Centre meets the growing needs of China’s largest dedicated economic zone, and as such could be considered as the largest Exhibition Centre in the world.
