Michel Verjux

Born in 1956 in Chalon-sur-Saône.
Lives and works in Paris.
After studying economics, management, and human relations, Michel Verjux began his artistic career in the mid-1970s at the International University Theater in Dijon. He was an actor and director, but also a lighting technician; this initial experience with lighting would shape the entirety of his artistic practice.

A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Dijon in 1982, he played a key role in the development of the Consortium, a major contemporary art center in Burgundy. Alongside his artistic career, Michel Verjux has served as a guest lecturer at a multitude of art and architecture schools, from Dijon to Tokyo, including stops in Paris, Mexico, and Valenciennes; he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the École Nationale d'Arts in Cergy since 2003.

From the early 1980s to the present, Michel Verjux has exclusively used projected light as his medium, initially indoors before gradually expanding into public spaces through his intangible light installations, designed almost exclusively in situ.

He established his agency in lights in 2003.
