Felice Varini

Born in 1952 in Locarno (Switzerland).
Lives and works in Paris.
After studying drawing, painting, and performing arts, Felice Varini moved to Paris in 1978.

An internationally renowned artist, Felice Varini can be considered one of the contemporary masters of anamorphosis. This visual trick of deformation, which he applies to geometric shapes and compositions in solid colors (often red or yellow), allows the viewer to recompose the image from a specific vantage point. Viewed from any other location, the forms become unrecognizable, creating as many abstract compositions as there are viewpoints.

Varini’s compositions are deployed on scales as varied as an apartment (here an architectural firm), a building (Théâtre de l’Odéon in 2003), or an entire city (Salon-de-Provence in 2013 or the City of Carcassonne in 2018).
