Raspail Club

Located on Boulevard Raspail, a major axis in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, the restructuring project of a former garage and bank aims to bring a high-end sports facility to the neighborhood. Situated at the heart of a block, behind a beautiful residential building constructed in 1934 by architect Pol ABRAHAM, this garage spans 7 levels above ground and 2 levels below ground.

The bank is located on the ground floor of the residential building and faces the boulevard. The project program includes sports halls, a swimming pool, spa rooms, a gym, a fitness room, a cardio training room, and a restaurant. Due to its location in the heart of the block, the project has limited exposure to the exterior, and its main focus is on maximizing the quality of its interior ambiance. Its vertical structure, spread across numerous levels, emphasizes the importance of connecting the levels effectively.

The proposed architectural solution aims to transform this challenge into a stimulating and memorable spatial arrangement. A succession of cylinders, opened by arches and stacked in a decreasing rhythm, forms a central void; a void that evokes a sort of negative Tower of Babel. At the center of this space, a circular staircase completes the architectural arrangement. The lighting scheme enhances the sense of ascent and coherence within the space.
