After more than 20 years of transformation work on the Centre, led by Valode & Pistre, a new stage has been embarked upon, called MixCité, which consists, on the one hand, of incorporating activities other than exhibitions into the Centre, and on the other hand, of creating at the edge of the Centre an urban fringe consisting of hotels and offices that will form new connections with the city.

This urban integration of the Centre into its environment concerns the towns of Vanves and Issy-les-Moulineaux. The Eklo Hotel, in Vanves, hugs the curve of rue du Moulin so as to emphasise this integration more strongly and thus create a characteristic silhouette visible from a distance, like a sign, which gives it its identity. The project provides a welcoming environment for the district, accommodating a variety of innovative spaces: coworking spaces, a participative kitchen, a spectacular panoramic restaurant overlooking the whole of Paris, and a wide choice of bedrooms. These inspired the design of the façades, which consist of regular faceted modules punctuated by jutting volumes and changes of scale, and are accentuated by the large horizontal volume of the restaurant.

The bronze colour of the jutting volumes and restaurant combines with the subtly gilded effect of the facets, whose reflections vary with the curve of the building to create an iconic image for a hotel that echoes the Eklo message of “design and ecology”.
