Lille University Hospital
The project, initiated in 2012, consisted of restoring the buildings of the cardiology hospital by interlinking over 40,000 m² of new spaces with the existing surface area. Today, after 7 years of construction work, the site brings together not only all the hospital’s cardiological, vascular and thoracic specialisms, but also the cardiac agencies and the poisoning treatment centre. It has inpatient sections, an ambulatory level, a cooling technology facility (bringing together radiography, consultations, explorations and research), a heating technology facility, an operating theatre and a long circuit.
Since the project’s conception, its phasing-in on an occupied site has had to be taken into account. In setting up the various services, consideration was thus given not only to functional considerations but also to the phasing-in options that would enable services to be continually moved around as delivery progressed.
