Grand Paris Express
Les Ardoines station
The design of the exposed concrete structure was inspired by biomorphology. This “skeleton” is rooted in the deepest part of the station, where the platforms are, and from there it surges upwards, becoming lighter as it rises, and continues on the outside to form the footbridge that crosses the railway tracks. It gradually hollows out, ultimately becoming a filigree.
This graphic interplay, translated by round-cornered lozenges, enables users to locate themselves vertically during their comings and goings. Becoming gradually denser as it descends towards the platforms, and, inversely, lighter as it rises towards the exterior, it finally emerges and thus creates the station’s volume. The underground link between the Grand Paris network and the RER C is reprised by an overhead connection in the form of a footbridge that serves as a belvedere with a view of the city of Vitry developments between the rail tracks and the Seine.
