This historic monument is closely associated with the region’s turbulent history. Many times remodelled, it has nevertheless retained the essentials of its 14th-century structure, its ramparts, central building and outbuildings.

The project envisaged the creation of 47 bedrooms, a restaurant, a bar and a Spa. The ensemble of existing buildings was retained and restored with care, without removing later work done over the course of the centuries. The architectural project was mainly concerned with extension, and the raising of a new building for the Spa.

To ensure full visibility of the proposed new elements, they were made from terracotta in a very contemporary style. This exemplary, very low-carbon construction method marries perfectly with the château’s stone architecture and accentuates the project’s exemplary nature.
