Bulgari Hotel Paris
The project’s architecture, entrusted by Bulgari to Valode & Pistre in association with Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, is resolutely contemporary and distinctive, yet completely in keeping with the historic urban setting of avenue George V, and thus expressive of a dialogue between two cultures, those of Italy and Paris. The almost monolithic mineral façades are clad mainly in sustainable light-coloured stone, an enduring material that is in harmony with the architecture of the neighbouring Haussmanien buildings, which are also in stone. The glazed bays are deployed on two levels, as on Italian palaces.
The building’s volumetrics and successively regressing façades offer accessible terraces on levels 7 and 9. The penthouse has been treated as an extensively glazed pavilion opening onto the vast terrace roof.
An interior courtyard offers a shady, planted space accessible from the ground floor. The tastefully designed interior decor mingles stone and marble from various regions of Italy with works in glass made using techniques inherited from René Lalique. Bulgari’s timeless elegance is thus mingled with Parisian charm.
