Jesus-Rafael Soto

Born in 1923 in Ciudad Bolivar (Venezuela).
Died in 2005 in Paris.
From humble beginnings, Jesus-Rafael Soto started as a self-taught movie poster artist before studying art in 1942 at the School of Fine Arts in Caracas.
The 1950s marked his move to Paris and the birth of the Kinetic Art movement, which he pioneered alongside François Morellet, Victor Vasarely, and Julio Le Parc. His work is dedicated to visual and chromatic vibration phenomena, particularly through large-scale sculptures and installations.

In 1995, Soto was commissioned to install a tricolor artwork in the lobby of the Air France Headquarters in Roissy.
