Jean-Charles Blais

Born in 1956 in Nantes.
Lives and works in Paris.
Graduated from the Fine Arts school in Rennes, Jean-Charles Blais was a major figure in the "Free Figuration" movement of the 1980s.
His early work is dominated by oversized, ghostly silhouettes of anonymous characters, seemingly cramped on their canvases. In the early 2000s, his work took a technological turn towards digital image projection.

He created several figures for the lobby of the Leonardo da Vinci University Centre in 1994.
